Once upon a time there was a wonderful King who ruled over a large and powerful nation. His people loved Him and did their best to serve Him every single day. In this enormous nation lived a family like many of the other families that made up this Kingdom. This family was different in that the King set them apart to serve Him in a very special and unique way.
The King had blessed this family throughout the years with several little packages, babies in fact, that were to grow up under their care. He instructed this proud couple to train these children in the way they should go so that when they were older they would not depart from it.
I\'m here to tell you the story of the very first child, their eldest daughter. She had grow up over the years and had come to love and respect her parents. She strove to please them every day and honor them in everything. She had her weaknesses and often, so very often, disobeyed or disappointed them. But she always did her best to make things right and once again enjoy her parent\'s friendship.
One day the King visited their humble home and asked to speak to their eldest daughter. She met Him in the early hours the next morning and there He told her of wonderful plans He made just for her. He told her of a long journey she was to take and many areas in which she needed to grow. The daughter was elated about the trip and couldn\'t wait to start. Before their talk was over, the King told her something very important.
\"Daughter,\" He began, \"I know your excited and I know this journey is full of adventure for you. But I must tell you something that is vital to the success of your journey. A major part of your journey will take place of the bridge of testing.\"
The daughter gasped quietly. \"But, My King,\" she implored, \"How am I to survive the bridge? It is said to be so thin that there is barely enough room for one foot! I will surely lose my balance and fall.\"
\"I know my Daughter,\" He reassured gently, \"But I have prepared your way. When you are confused, remember that it is I who sent you across the bridge. And Daughter, you won\'t be alone. No, you won\'t ever be alone. But it is true, the bridge is much too narrow for any human to cross if they were to walk normally. Let me tell you something.\"
The Daughter leaned in close to catch His next words.
\"Daughter, when I gave you to your parents I presented them both with a very odd gift. Each one was entrusted with a stick that was very long with a heart shape on the top. They were told to place those sticks in the garden of love and that those sticks would grow as much as your love grew for them.
Your parents will now use these sticks to assist you on your journey. For you see, My Dear, without these sticks you will indeed fall and will be left with nasty scars and bruises.
So this is what you must do. As you are crossing the bridge and you begin to waver and are unsure of what to do, simply call for your parents who will be there waiting. They will simply extend their stick and you will place your foot firmly on top. With their guidance and comforting voices, you will regain your balance and continue in the way.
Daughter, your success in this journey is directly related to the number of times you call to your parents. The more they assist you, the less you will teeter and the firmer you will go. If you let pride cloud your vision, and stubbornly refuse their help, you will be sorry for you\'ll never be left without a mark.\"
With that, the King left the daughter and she began to make her preparations for the long journey ahead.
The day arrived for her to begin. As she stood and the door, she looked her parents in the eye and said, \"Though the King is leading me on a journey that won\'t always be close to home, you can count on the fact that I\'ll always call for you. I need your help, wisdom and guidance. I love you both more than you\'ll ever know. I couldn\'t have asked for better parents and I know you\'ll never let me fall.\"
