You believe every word in the Bible, accepted Jesus Christ as a Saviour in your life, but now you don't feel youre saved, youre not sure you are saved.
Assurance of your relationship with God is based on the dependability of Gods Word. A Christian lives by faith; trusts in the reliability of God and His Word. The following illustrations show the relationship between fact (God and His Word), faith (our trust in God and His Word) and the feelings (emotions or responses to our experiences)
An aircraft pilots senses (eyes, ears and body, sensing the atmospheric conditions) tell him something, but the instrument panel in the cockpit indicates something else. It would be unwise to trust in his senses. A pilot must learn to trust (faith) his instrument panel (fact) rather than his senses (feelings) to know the true altitude, location and orientation of the aircraft.
Likewise, you must never depend on your feelings to know whether you have a relationship with God or not. The promise of Gods Word is the proof and not your feelings. You can be sure of your relationship with God if you have responded to His offer of forgiveness through Jesus. The response has the role of your own will. Let me explain. Before marriage a man is convinced intellectually who his fiance is. The same way, you may believe intellectually in Jesus. The man may emotionally feel that he loves her deeply. The same way, you may have had an emotional experience. But, the man and woman becomes husband and wife, only by their act of will, commit to one another in a wedding ceremony. The same way, you do not become a Christian till by an act of will, you receive Jesus Christ into your life as your Savior and Lord. Salvation is free and you do not earn it, you just accept it through your will.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faithand this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast
A student studying in a distant place is in need of money and is worrying much as he does not have any other source other than his father. His father after realizing his sons plight sends him money into his bank account and sends a text message to his son on his mobile phone. Now, the son reads the text and believes it and feels very happy about the fact that the money is his now! The money is not his because he felt happy. Money is his whether he keeps feeling happy all the time or not. You did not feel Christ die for your sins, but you know it. The same message which tells you He died for you, tells you also that because you believe on Him, you are saved. Don't be occupied any longer with feelings! Salvation is turning to Jesus to be forgiven of one's sins and not turning from sins to be forgiven by Jesus.
If you are saved, you need to know your Eternal Security. The security of the believer is a core doctrine of the Bible. There are hundreds of verses that support this doctrine in one way or another.
The concept of losing one's salvation is flawed in so many ways. At what point would a person lose it? How much sin is too much? Where would you cross the saved/unsaved line?
The idea of losing our salvation is not only unscriptural, but it creates monumental problems with other doctrines, including salvation by faith, the very nature of man to sin and the purpose of Christs sacrifice. If Eternal Security is not true, no one has ever been saved, because we all are sinful by nature. It proves that those who oppose eternal security are hypocritical.
These verses emphasize your salvation is secured
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.â€
“All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.â€
“for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.â€
“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.â€
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.â€
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.â€
2 Corinthians 5:5
“He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.â€
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life.â€
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.â€
2 Corinthians 1:22
“And who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.â€
1 John 5:13
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.â€
“But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.â€
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.â€
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?â€
“Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.â€
“Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.â€
“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.â€
1 Corinthians 1:8-9
“Who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.â€
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.â€
1 Peter 1:4-6
“to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trialsâ€
