Psalm 145:4 King James Version (KJV):
One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.
The Silent Generation: The children of the Depression.
This generation of believers cherished the Word of God. Their lives centered upon their church, work ethics, and their word was ther bond. They expected all to carry their fair share of the load and most volunteered to go and fight in the great WWII. Those who were able and willing would freely go to witness door to door, teach Sunday school, work charities or maintain church properties because they felt it was their Christian duty to do so. They were the last generation to fully share their faith with their children to successfully instill lasting christian values: one generation to another.
The Nuclear Generation: Children in the shadow of the Atom Bomb
These believers, many of whom are still living today, is known as the last generation in America to have had the same strong moral fiber as the previous generation. They built many new churches as they moved out of the cities into the suburbs and consistently worked to build their congregations through witness and invitation and Christian charities grew as the needs arose. People lived within their means, avoided credit and all of them recited 'under one God'. It would not be an exageration to call these people 'the last Christian majority generation' in terms of belief, personal conduct and accountabiity. They were the product of the influence of the higher moral standards of their parents, peers and the witness of fellow believers.
Through the generations in America since 1965 to the present, the moral fiber of the nation's people have fell to 1/4 of that of the Silent Generation. The common dominator for this decrease was technological advances. As technology increased by 1.5%/year through this period, morality values decreased by like amount. With the advent of the 4G Smartphone in 2008, not only does 'tech connected' communication platforms advance the work of christian witness, but it also brings a barrage of effective anti-christian retorhetic. The current global eco/social conditions by which instability is measured are varying daily and change now happens quickly through the almost immediate exchange of global information. The need for witnessing is greater now than through all of the preceding generations since the Great Depression.
Just as there was always that thin red line of Christ throughout the Scriptures, from beginning to end, there has also been a thin red line throughout the generations: the Christian witness, you. Carry on that line wherever you are and God's speed to all the writers and staff of FaithWriters.com.
