TITLE: “FORGIVE AND BE BLESSED!”
THOUGHT FOR TODAY: I will foster a forgiving spirit!
SCRIPTURE: Psalm 86:5, “For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.”
Telling someone you are sorry or asking for forgiveness is not always an easy task. Sometimes, the offended person makes it harder for a person to ask him or her for forgiveness. For the simple fact, they are not ready to forgive or accept the other person’s apology. As a result, the offended person continues to hold a grudge, trying to make life miserable for the other person. They want the offender to feel the presence of their wrath. Intending for the other person to hurt, how they were hurt by the offense. In many ways, the offended person is trying to capture the offender’s emotions; by harboring an unforgiving spirit. Forgetting there is a God in Heaven and He is Judge, Jury and Avenger for all humanity. Forgive, so that you can move forward in your life. James 1:20 states, “For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.”
However, all honor, glory and praise to the Lord, because there is freedom through Jesus Christ. Once a person tries to make amends with the insulted person and he or she does not accept the apology or forgiveness that is presented to them. As a person finds himself or herself in this situation, he or she should seek the Lord in prayer. Seeking Him for His peace and forgiveness; regarding the broken relationship with the other person. In turn, the Lord steps in with His mercy and He will give the offender peace about the situation. The Lord does not want us to worry and fret over…people. And He never wants us to allow another person to hold us hostage through an unforgiving spirit. When we forgive, the Lord blesses us, because it shows that we are children of the Light.
In Psalm 86:5, David’s spirit is troubled because of some things that are going on in his life. But, he remembers that no matter how other people are treating him. God is faithful, a Forgiver, He pardons and is plenteous in mercy. In other words, God is a God of second chances. This is why David makes a heartfelt prayer to Him, stating, “For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.” So, whether a person is the one that has been offended or the one that is the offender. God is the Creator, the Lover of our Souls and final Judge of all people. The Lord wants our spirits to be free, not in bondage to an unforgiving spirit. Forgive and be blessed!
