TITLE: "THE REAL TREASURE IS FINDING JESUS"
SCRIPTURE: Matthew 6:21, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (KJV)”
In our society, a person’s worth is usually measured by his or her wealth or the accumulation of material possessions. This is humanity’s way of saying how much you are worth to them or what kind of weight your words and actions will carry in this world. Society forgets that all the money and material possessions in this world cannot buy them peace of mind or real happiness. If this was true, people would not try to bring harm to themselves. When it appears their world around them seems to be falling apart. People that find themselves in a hopeless situation want answers and they want and need them now. The world refuses to realize or acknowledge that true and lasting peace is found only in Jesus Christ.
However, the Bible has a different perspective on a person’s wealth or treasures. The Lord wants people to “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things will be added to you (Matthew 6:33).” When it comes to the things of the Lord, we are not measured by our material possessions. We are judged by the content of our hearts. Therefore, “the real wealth of treasure is finding Jesus”.
Matthew 6:19-21 states, “(19) Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. (20) But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. (21) For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (KJV)” Once Jesus has entered a person’s heart, humanity’s adversary cannot steal Him away. Our adversary the devil tries to antagonize and oppress the children of God. But, he cannot make Jesus leave your heart. He may try to make your life miserable. However, according to 1 John 4:4, “Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” When you have Jesus in your heart, you have the Power that will enable you to overcome all obstacles. You have the presence of the Holy Ghost to help you resist the devil; so that he will flee from you. Hold on to Jesus Christ as your most “Treasured Possession.” The Lord has promised each one of His children a crown and mansion in His Kingdom. WOW!
