Jesus Christ' Suffering for Humanities Sin has brought and continues to Bring many sons/daughters to Glory Part 4
Hebrews 2:16 For verily He took not on Him the nature of angels; but He took on Him the seed of Abraham. KJV
After man's/Adam's disobedience in the Garden of Eden, man not only gave up dominion of the earth to the devil, but he opened up himself to the knowledge of good and evil, as it is written, "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." (Genesis 2:17) (KJV). When Adam died, he did not die physically at that very moment of his disobedience, but he died spiritually and therefore his perfect and pure connection to God the Father was immediately broken, requiring him from then on to make blood sacrifices to God as a covering for his sin and sinfulness now which had become a part of him, as it is written prior to their disobedience they did not even recognize that they were naked, as it written, "And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed." (Genesis 2:25) (KJV), but as soon as they disobeyed their eyes were opened to their nakedness before one another and their shame and guilt of their sin before God, as it is written, "And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden." (Genesis 3:7-8) (KJV). Now God the Father slew an animal for them immediately when they recognized their shame, nakedness, and guilt before one another and before God, as it is written, "Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them." (Genesis 3:21) (KJV). Just like many years later in the future God the Father would slay His only begotten son for or so that the sins of humanity in the world could be covered by His Blood by all who come to Him.
Now many many years following Adam's sin in the Garden of Eden, God the Father spoked to a man named Abram (at the time but later changing his name to Abraham) and told him to leave his Father's land and go to a place that He (God) would show him and made a promise to this man that his descendents would be as numerous as the stars in the sky and the grains of sand on the sea shore, as it is written here, "And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice." (Genesis 22:15-18) (KJV). Therefore, we now find the writer of Hebrews declaring that our Lord, Master, and Savior Jesus Christ took upon Himself the seed of Abraham and not Adam, as it is written here, "For verily He took not on Him the nature of angels; but He took on Him the seed of Abraham." (Hebrews 2:16) (KJV). This is written because the promise of the Messiah was made to Abraham and not to Adam, as it is written by the Apostle Paul to the Church @ Galatia, "Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ." (Galatians 3:16) (KJV).
Here is what Adam Clarke had to say of Hebrews 2:16, "Moreover, he doth not at all take hold of angels; but of the seed of Abraham he taketh hold. This is the marginal reading, and is greatly to be preferred to that in the text Jesus Christ, intending not to redeem angels, but to redeem man, did not assume the angelic nature, but was made man, coming directly by the seed or posterity of Abraham, with whom the original covenant was made, that in his seed all the nations of the earth should be blessed; and it is on this account that the apostle mentioned the seed of Abraham, and not the seed of Adam; and it is strange that to many commentators should have missed so obvious a sense. The word itself signifies not only to take hold of, but to help, succor, save from sinking, etc. The rebel angels, who sinned and fell from God, were permitted to fall down, alle downe, as one of our old writers expresses it, till they fell into perdition: man sinned and fell, and was falling downe, alle downe, but Jesus laid hold on him and prevented him from falling into endless perdition. Thus he seized on the falling human creature, and prevented him from falling into the bottomless pit; but he did not seize on the falling angels, and they fell down into outer darkness. By assuming the nature of man, he prevented this final and irrecoverable fall of man; and by making an atonement in human nature, he made a provision for its restoration to its forfeited blessedness.
If you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ and His amazing healing power, pray this from your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ (you speaking directly to Him), Dear Lord Jesus, I confess to You that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I believe You shed Your Blood and died for my sins. I believe that You rose from the dead proving that You alone are God. I repent of my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I ask You Dear Lord Jesus to come into my heart and take control of my life. I want You to be my Lord, Savior, and my God. Amen...
