Bad Prayer Day?
Every woman knows that hair affects your entire day. For me, when my hair looks great, every strand in its place, I feel confident, beautiful, and able to conquer the world! When it\'s too flat and just won\'t do anything at all, my morning is off to a bad start. The remainder of the day I feel cranky and irritable. I spend the majority of my time in the bathroom, standing in front of the mirror, brushing and playing with my hair, trying to get it to \"go right.\" But this only makes it worse and by nighttime I\'m ready to chop it off completely, seriously buying into the \"bald is beautiful\" theory.
I have found something else that affects my entire day: a bad prayer day. When I start off the day in prayer, I feel confident, a beautiful daughter of the King, and everything somehow falls into place. When I don\'t pray at all, or try to squeeze in a quick request or two between downing a bagel and brushing my teeth, my morning is already off to a bad start. The remainder of the day I feel cranky and irritable, frustrated and discontented. I spend the majority of my time complaining and whining, trying to get my day to \"go right.\" But my attempts only make it worse! By nighttime I\'m tempted to bury my head under the covers and not emerge for several months.
I\'m thankful that God forgives bad prayer days. But just as I want my hair to cooperate, God desires for me to spend time with Him in prayer every morning, filling up on everything I need to face the day. When I do, I find that my day rarely falls flat, even when my hair does.
\"In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.\" Psalm 5:3 (NIV)

Cute title; cute analogy!
Beautifully written, Lynda. A great analogy and application to God's desire for us. Nothing keeps my day going on "full" like praying. I feel blessed by your words.
Love it, Lynda. You are so good at taking the unexpected, like a "bad hair day" and using it to teach. I love your humor and style. Always easy and fun with a powerful punch. :)
I too find that the first prayer of the day, that one spoken immediately upon waking, does more for me, most times, than any other time of day. And I find it makes life really difficult to live when I fail to pray "without ceasing" as well. Now, I'm going to brush my ever-stubborn mop and get to town while it's still day. :::wink:::
