I just got done reading She’s Out of Control. And I have to say I think it is going to be the best one. If you haven’t read book one, don’t read this article, because it’ll spoil the first book for you. If you have and want to hear the sum of the next one, read on.
To start off, the poem that begins chapter one made me laugh. In was funny, in a weird, demented sorta way (Scarily my humor). I didn’t know Emily Dickinson could be re-written so . . .well, disturbingly comical. I like how Billerbeck make Ashley’s poem so identifiable, that is if you’ve ever known a strange, unmotivated male.
Reading page one I was think, “Ok, Seth isn’t all he’s cracked up to be in the first book.” He’s afraid to commit . . .or even TALK about committing.
I mean not wanting to commit to the point you probably won’t even DRIVE passed a jewelry store is just begging for therapy of some sort.
And what makes it even worse, well this is a semi-story spoiler, but blondie comes back from her missions trip, and lets just say Seth’s eyes can’t seem to get enough of her—to the point of following the size 2 wonder around at the church group meetings.
Ashley is really starting to wonder what she’s gotten herself into and why the heck she’s holding on to it.
Then the charming doctor, Kevin Novak, comes on the scene. He notices that Seth treats Ashley like a holey sock, and he wants to show he loves her more then the mealy mouthed commitment-phobe.
But right when Ashley is asking if Seth’s really worth all the confusion and relationship guessing, Seth makes a big deal out of something he’s going to do for her and she can’t want to see what it is. Of course, she and her friends think it’s a marriage proposal.
While she waiting on this party, she has to deal with her boss Hans, or “Hands” as she calls him.
He has a weird habit of sniffing like he’s got allergies and has mood swings more than a hormonal woman—you’ll never guess why, either.
Hans has also left his wife for the hot Italian babysitter, but he shows little emotion to her.
In the course of a day, Ashley finds herself, once again, on business trip—this time with “Hands”.
With a trip to Taiwan in the air, Ashley goes to her beloved Seth’s party dressed up for the “special” occasion . . . and HE opens the door in ratty jeans and a college sweat shirt.
With all Ashley’s friends waiting to see Seth pull out a princess cut stone embedded in white gold, instead, Seth takes out . . .well, let’s just say Ashley and her friends our WAY, WAY off on this one.
Deflated and disappointed, Ashley leaves Seth’s house . . .in wake of Dr. Kevin leaving in a ticked off form—after reminding Seth that his girlfriend is on a low-carb diet, so order her a salad not a pizza.
Yes, Kevin is back!
Ashley runs into Kevin outside Seth house when she leaves the humiliating and disaster of a “party”.
Kevin pretty much tells her she’s way outta that jerk\'s league.
I was shocked at how stupid and childish Seth acts though the whole thing—even though I’ve meet guys just like him.
Kevin tries to sweep Ashley off her feet, but after a brief run-in with his parents and her Asian sister-in-law, she’s trying to figure out how to tell him his parents are arrogant and prejudice . . .as doesn’t quite know how.
I’m leaving this with a cliffhanger so you’ll READ THE BOOK, LOL.
I liked this book; of course Kristin Billerbeck never lets me down!
I give it five stars all the way.
