while Cloudy and Overcast waited for him in the conference room. Once a week, after Stars and Moon reported for duty, they met to map out next week's schedule. Rain was out on sick leave.
As usual, Cloudy was the first to speak up. Even before Sun sat down, Cloudy began.
"I've been on vacation without pay all week. Quite frankly, I would prefer to work five days next week to make up the time. This way Sun you can have a break."
Without responding to Cloudy, Sun turned to Overcast.
"What do you think, Overcast?"
"Well," Overcast said slowly to Sun, "It really doesn't matter to me.
But, I will say this. At least when Cloudy's on duty, there's no need to come to work. Cloudy doesn't need me to cover him. However, when you're on duty, I never know when I'll be
called in an emergency to take over the day."
Overcast continued. " Let me get to the point. Whatever day I have to work, I prefer morning hours."
"Wait a minute," Cloudy spoke up. Are we changing the rules around here?
Since when did we start part-time hours?"
Before Overcast could answer, Sun spoke up.
"No one's changing rules, Cloudy. If you want to work part-time, just put in
your request. Either I or Overcast will be happy to fill in.
So, stop arguing before I talk to Moon about putting you on twilight duty.
Now, let's get down to business. We have to get up early. You know Stars and Moon never work overtime."
Sun pulled out a blank schedule.
"I'll work Monday and Tuesday. Cloudy you can work Wednesday and Thursday.
Would you like Rain to cover you for lunch?"
"Sounds good to me," Cloudy said. Just make sure to remind Rain to lighten up. No need to come on so heavy. Sometimes, it's like pulling teeth to get him to go away, even after I come back from lunch."
"Now let's see," Sun said, ignoring Cloudy's complaint. "That leaves Friday, Saturday and Sunday for you Overcast."
"If you don't mind," Overcast spoke up," I'd prefer to split Sunday with you, Sun. I rather not work such a long week-end."
"Done deal," Sun said, sighing with relief. "Now, let's get this schedule to THE BOSS and a copy to the Weather Channel. Then, we're outta here. Tomorrow's another day."
"Hey," Cloudy yells out to Sun. "Its Wednesday, what are you
doing here? It's my day to work!"
"Now wait a minute," Sun shoots back. "It's been three months since you were hired after the other Cloudy disappeared. Where's your head, in the clouds? You should know by now that our schedules are subject to change.
Read the fine print."

"He's in charge."
"He gives rain on the earth" (Job 5:10).
"He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends
rain on the just and unjust" (Matt. 5:45).
Sun continued apologetically.
"Sorry You weren't told not to show up. We'll have to speak to the Weather
Angel about that. It's his job to take care of notifying you."
"Excuse me, he continued, "I have to finish letting out my rays. Oh, one
last thing. Don't take it too hard, no one told the Weatherman."
Today's Forecast: Cloudy with periods of rain.
