The living room was getting warmer with the ticking of the old black stove positioned in the corner. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee greeted me like a dear friend, wafting its way through every room of the little A-frame house.
I poured the steamy caffeine. A wisp of its vapor drifted just above the rim of the cup. I sipped it carefully. Its familiar flavor comforted me. It was my beloved kick-start to the day.
As I looked outside through the window, I noticed a luminous mist hovering above the ground, evidence of the sun's first morning kiss on a cold earth. It was another sign of a new day, and an assurance that God was not done with the world just yet.
The dawn's early fog soon vanished reminding me that all of our experiences are temporal. "... For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away." James 4:14 NKJV
Considering the brevity of life, I asked the Lord how I should spend my remaining time.
I feel his presence, and I see His itinerary for me unfold each day. He grants me discernment, knowledge, and wisdom to help me in my travels. And like the wind that fills the sails of a clipper ship, it seems His spirit blows into me a sense purpose and inspiration. "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31 NKJV
Holding on to His promises, I realize His creative energy is all I need to carry me along, to take me to my final destination.
