The truth is that union, unity, agreement in purpose, can be for positive purposes and also for negative purposes.
Each united group sees it's purposes to be positive, if the strength of its unity accomplishes its desired results.
Because of that fact, we as humanity must have a litmus test, a Gold Standard, so to speak, by which we may judge our purposes.
That will bring us to God and to His written instructions every time.
Since God is no respecter of persons He looks upon everyone's common good, and being God He thinks that He has the right to write the rules, and He has the power to back it up.
God sees all of His creation of humanity as "family;" we are all His children whom He loves with deep affection, so His desire is for us to care about each other with deep affection.
Obviously we do not all abide by the rules of love for each other.
The worst of things we do is kill each other, denying life that God gave. No doubt that angers Him.
So what will He do about it?
He could easily snuff out the life of the life taker; He has the power to do so.
As the family of earth some of us also physically, sexually, and mentally abuse those who are helpless or handicapped by the extreme age of child or elder, or those whose physical body or mental capacity is limited. Sometimes we rob and cheat the very capable with a gun or a pencil. Sometimes we assist the devil to a person's destruction by speaking heavy and demeaning words against them, because of our own self-righteous evaluations and our lack of loving concern for their good.
So what will God do about that?
As people of "unity with purpose," whether good or bad purpose, we are each day writing our own history book for God to do something about it.
There is instruction in The Bible, God's rule book to us, that gives us information about how to behave toward each other and what God will do about it.
If our actions are bad, in God's sight, not our sight, the information could be viewed as a warning of retribution; if our actions toward the family or any member of the family are good, then we may view the information as a promise of retribution.
In either case retribution is promised and what we receive depends upon what we have done.
God tells us that He has a rule of nature, which God Himself established, "That as long as the earth shall endure, seed time and harvest shall not fail from the earth." So, what we sow is what we grow. Our harvest is decided by us.
We tend to be comfortable with the thought that we are not being watched, that God is not aware of us, that is when we are misbehaving. When we are in trouble however, we hope God is watching.
The truth is that God sees it all. One descriptive word for God is, "here." He is here, and there, and everywhere, all at the same time. God is a Spirit, "IN Him we live and move and have our being." There is no place and no time that God is not where we are, and God is an accountant also, in that He keeps records.
It is "appointed to man to die one time and after that the judgment."
We will all be reunited with the history of our life; and from that personal history book, which we write every day of our lives, we will receive back what we have done on earth during our lives.
This Reunion, with whatever we give our agreement to while we live, will be the information God uses to judge us and to assign to us each one, what we have sown or invested into, as we live now.
No appeal such as, "I didn't know," will be one the Judge will tolerate because He says that not only has He given to us a written rule book, The Bible, but He has also written His basic rules in our hearts; He knows that we all know what is right in His sight.
Confession to God regarding our sin and stopping our wrong doings erases the adverse information.
