She comes in looking just fine to me, but then she starts the primping, and she primps and she primps and she primps. You’d think she’d get primped out, but no.
I don’t understand that miniature vice grip. Of course, I don’t understand the wand with black gunk that follows, either. Don’t get me started on the glittery colored stuff. That’s only the beginning. She dabs and spreads and brushes all kinds of things on her face. Then she spreads stuff on her lips only to take some of it off. On or off, lady. Decide.
Sometimes before she does all that, she pulls her hair back and spreads this green goop all over her face. I shudder every time I see it. Sometimes she leaves the room for a while, which is a relief, but then I’m traumatized the second she comes back. I can’t tell you how relieved I am when she peels that thing off and tosses it.
What’s with the hot stick? I’m roasting here. I wish she’d splash some cold water over this direction. As bad as it is, I’m also dreading what’s to come. Oh boy. Here it is. Cough, cough, gag, hack, hack, gag, cough. That stuff sprays all over me and gags me from here to kingdom come. Not only that, it sticks to me, and when she scrubs it off, she rubs me raw. But it all starts with the hot stick. I wish I could figure out a way to hide that thing.
It isn’t just what I see. She talks to herself, too, so I have to hear all that. She turns sideways and complains that one thing sticks out too much while another doesn’t stick out enough. If I have to hear one more time, “I wonder if this makes my butt look big,” I swear I’ll have a fit.
Speaking of a fit, sometimes she has one. I feel the vibration under me as she stomps her foot, and I don’t even want to repeat the things she says. She’s so obsessed. And why? She looks fine to me. I spend a lot of time feeling baffled.
I don’t know about her, but by the time she’s done, I’m worn out. Not only that, it seems after putting all that stuff on her face, the weight of it would make her fall forward. Of course, I’m glad she doesn’t since I’m sure not up to that kind of a thud on top of me after all the other commotion.
I’ve tried to relate with others in this room. A lot of good that did me. One said, “I enjoy the warm trickle down my sides in the morning, though I could do without her singing. I love the occasional hot bubbles in the evening. It’s so relaxing both for her and for me.” The other said, “When I see her, she’s scrubbing the tar outta me. I’m so relieved when I finally feel the flush to soothe my pain. Other than that, well, let’s just say I normally see the other end of her. I’m putting that on my bucket list under the heading, things I want to unsee.” Clearly, we all have different experiences with her.
Back to what I was saying, I really don’t understand. If only she wouldn’t obsess. To be honest, she looks nice when she comes in. I wish she could see what I see, and I wish she would enhance instead of cover up. By the time she puts all that stuff on her face, it distracts from the compassion in her eyes and the kindness in her smile. I wish she’d spend less time here and more time nurturing those God-given inner traits and use them to serve God by ministering to others.
Until then, I’ll just have to keep on being the foundation of the primping station. Oy vey.
