G - Give of yourself, including your time, grace, patience, talents, financial resources, and more. Do so without requiring recognition or expecting anything in return. Remember, true generosity comes from the heart.
E - Endeavor to stretch yourself. Yes, give in ways that are comfortable to you. But also consider that being generous sometimes involves sacrifice. Ponder what that may mean in your situation.
N - Notice those around you. See, or even anticipate, their needs. Ask yourself how you can help or at least coordinate assistance. Pray for the ability to be observant, prepared, and willing to step in when needed.
E - Exude kindness. Smile at everyone you encounter, and thank every person who does something for you. Don’t underestimate the effects of even small gestures. Many people are silently struggling and could benefit from knowing someone out there is still kind.
R - Refrain from being generous with things like statements to spark an argument, derogatory comments, or unsolicited advice. Instead, concentrate on discovering common ground with others and finding ways to encourage them. Respect others, and give them room to be themselves. Listen to the downhearted, walk with those who are stumbling in the dark, and build up those who need confidence.
O - Open up about what God has done in your life. Share about Jesus’ death and resurrection and what it meant for you and for mankind. Also share specific ways the Lord has helped you grow, shown himself to you, and sustained you through challenging times.
U - Use your spiritual gifts, and use them now. Don’t put off serving others. Pray for opportunities, and watch for answers to that prayer.
S - Step up and be an example to others. Encourage, challenge, and inspire them to be generous. Not only can you make a difference in your corner of the world, but your influence can carry on through others.
There are opportunities waiting for you. Never underestimate the impact you can have as you allow the Lord to work through you. We need more kindness and generosity in this world. Many people are hurting and living in the shadows. Let the light of Jesus shine through you, giving them love and hope. God bless you as you go forth and minister to others.
